Davie is a born and bred Shetlander, with an initial background primarily in the shipping and oil industry in the isles.

On leaving that he spent a year as a freelance broadcaster with the BBC, before taking up the post of Music Development Officer with Shetland Arts Trust (now Shetland Arts) in the islands – a post he held for eight years, before going self-employed.

Although not a musician himself, Davie has maintained a passion for all kinds of music since he was very young,  recently acting as an artist manager and agent for several prominent international folk / trad music artists.

For over 30 years he’s also acted as  a concert promoter in the isles, having subsequently worked with the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Steve Earle and Elvis Costello – among many others – in that capacity.

In recent years he has also worked extensively in film and TV – again mostly in Shetland – acting as a locations scout, ‘fixer’ and Locations Manager for several TV and film productions, in particular the ‘Shetland’ drama series as their local ‘fixer, while also continuing to act as a freelance broadcaster – primarily for BBC Radio Shetland – while he’s currently the main feature writer for local magazine ii magazine too.
